Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

Darebin Backyard Harvest Festival Back by Popular Demand!

Held annually in November, the Darebin Backyard Harvest Festival is a celebration of home food growing traditions. The festival has been inspiring home gardeners since 2011, and has become more popular with each event. Last year we had 14 residential food gardens open for display and held 5 workshops, more events than at any previous festival. A total of more than 290 people attended which is a festival record!

Learn from passionate and knowledgeable local experts from a diversity of cultures. Visit home gardens, participate in gardening workshops and get inspired to create your own food garden this spring!

The festival will run from Sunday 9 – Sunday 23 November, 2014 and includes over 16 open gardens and 7 workshops on each weekend as well as in the early evening during the week. Workshops include permaculture, composting, backyard chickens and fruit tree selection and care.

The festival is FREE for Darebin residents, $10 per event for non-Darebin residents.

Registration is required for all events. There is a limit of 4 events per person.
