Horticulture Therapy – Why we need MORE School Gardens…. Dirty Hands Make Happy Hearts !

Gardening is an engaging activity for children of all ages and abilities. Join us in visiting 3 special school settings where students can enjoy the recreational & therapeutic benefits of gardening.

Teachers and volunteers will gain an insight into:
– Recreational/therapeutic and pre-vocational benefits of gardening
– The delivery of a Certificate 2 program in Horticulture
– Kitchen/garden programs and the importance of volunteers
– Composting on a big scale
– Creating exciting school garden environments

This workshop will include visits to two special schools with successful garden programs & the Austin Hospital School to discover the benefits of gardening for our health and well-being.

When: Friday 11th August 2017,  9.00am to 3.30pm

Where Starting at Waratah Special Developmental School 230 Banksia Street, Bellfield. Car pooling to & from Austin Hospital. Finishing at Croxton School Northcote

Cost  $120 Teachers / $30 Volunteers & Parents, includes refreshments/lunch
