Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

Put community gardens on the map – LXRP Preston community consultation closes 6 May

On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is removing 75 level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.

In Preston, the level crossings at Murray Road, Cramer Street, Bell Street and Oakover Road will be removed by raising the rail line over the road. This project will deliver new stations (Bell and Preston) as well as presenting opportunities for new community open spaces and communal food spaces.

LXRP are currently seeking community feedback on how the community would like Preston’s newest open spaces to be developed.

If you’d like to see more community gardens, urban orchards and edible landscapes to be included in this redevelopment then this is your chance to let them know!

There are two ways to tell them your ideas:

  1. Leave comments on their online map.
  2. Complete their survey

To submit your feedback and get community gardens on the map, visit the Victorian Government’s Engage Victoria website. Submissions close 5pm Wednesday 6 May 2020.
