Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

Introducing Darebin’s new Little Seed Libraries in Alphington and Preston!

We’re excited to announce that the first two of our Little Seed Libraries have been installed in Alphington and Preston – and are now open to the community for borrowing!

Gardeners are welcome to borrow seeds to grow at home. Just remember to return your saved seeds to the library at the end of the season.

We would like to thank local seed saver champion, Kat Lavers, for her generous donation of local heirloom seeds to the project, which were grown and saved from The Plummery in Northcote.

You can find the seed libraries here:

Three more seed libraries in Northcote and Reservoir will arrive soon – stay tuned for updates!

If you already have a local seed library and want to be listed on our website, contact environment.support@darebin.vic.gov.au and we’ll add you to the map.
