Darebin, Merri-Bek and Yarra Councils are partnering with CERES 300acres to bring the Olives to Oil Harvest Festival back in 2023!
Come together over the weekend of 19-21 May to harvest olives from streets, parks and productive gardens. The olives will be pressed communally into delicious, local olive oil by our friends Barfold Olives and distributed back to the people who help with the harvest.
On Sunday 21 May, drop off your freshly picked olives at CERES Fair Food in Preston – or CERES Brunswick East where there will be an Olive Festival!
Collect your bottled oil from Reservoir Library two weeks later.
Tickets are free for residents of Darebin, Merri-Bek and Yarra, and $15 per booked drop-off of olives for residents of other areas. The first 50kg is processed for you for free, and after that there is a charge of $5.
I am interested to drop my olives for pressing oil.
I have query regarding any limit on the olive quantity or kilos? I can bring.
Hi Tony, thanks for your interest in participating in Olives to Oil this year! If you’re a Darebin resident, the first 50kg is processed for you for free, and after that there is a flat charge of $5 to press the remaining. There’s more information here – https://ceres.org.au/olives-to-oil/
Is it still possible to participate or limited to that weekend of 19-21 May?
Hi Edward, unfortunately the event is over and pressing was limited to the event. Hope you can participate next year!
