Expressions of Interest for new community garden in Oakhill

A rare opportunity has arisen for some vacant land in the heart of Oakhill Village Preston to be transformed into a community garden.

Council is currently seeking expressions of interest from the community for a dedicated group of local gardeners to take over the establishment and maintenance of the garden.

The site is the under-utilised carpark at the rear of St Marys Church on the corner of Tyler Street and Plenty Road, Preston.

There are some Council funds available to contribute to the establishment of the garden. We can also provide in kind support and assistance in facilitating an agreement with the landholder, as well as other resources once the garden is up and running.

For more information about how to register your interest, please contact Natalie Nigol, Sustainable Food Officer on natalie.nigol@darebin.vic.gov.au
