Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

Farmer Incubator’s Pop Up Garlic Farmers program 2020 – Starts 29 Feb!

Farmer Incubator are a non-profit organisation aiming to help grow future farmers from an enterprising collective of young people who are concerned about food quality, sovereignty and security, and who are yearning to work the land.

Their famous Pop-Up Garlic Farmers program is running for its sixth year! In this program, participants are supported to grow a market garden scale organic garlic crop in a co-farming model across 6 Melbourne locations, Collingwood Children’s Farm, Days Walk Farm in Keilor, the Beales Road Farm in Greensborough, CERES Joe’s Market Garden in Coburg, the Downs Estate Community Garden in Seaford, and Silvertine Farm at the beautiful Yarra Valley ECOSS.

Throughout the program you get 8 workshops on topics ranging from soil preparation to pest and disease management to marketing your product. You will get to know other aspiring farmers and develop valuable networks in the urban agriculture community. Plus you get to sell your garlic at the end (or eat it!).

The course starts Saturday 29 February 2020. For more information about Farmer Incubator visit their website here: http://www.farmerincubator.org.
