Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

Kat Lavers gardening livestream videos starting Friday 27 March 11am

Local gardening legend Kat Lavers is offering free gardening Q&A on Fridays at 11am, with the first one starting this Friday 27 March 2020 on the topic of ‘gardening in hard times’.

In the midst of a pandemic and with a recession looming, many of us are starting food gardens for the first time or looking to ramp up production. We grow most of our fresh produce in a small suburban garden and I want to share some of our lessons to help you in these hard times.

This first video will include a quick tour of Kat’s veggie patch plus tips on:
– Best crops to grow now when it really counts
– Planting design and timing for year round production in small gardens
– Basic soil prep and winter pest management

** Please note: gardening is very context specific so I’ll be sticking to what works in Melbourne, though everyone is welcome of course 🙂

These will be happening regularly on Fridays so head to Kat’s Facebook page to see more.
