Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

Celebrating everything compost for International Compost Awareness Week (3-9 May)

Compost deliveries for Darebin Community Gardens

To celebrate International Compost Awareness Week, Council have donated nutrient-rich compost to our local community gardens with help from the Back to Earth Initiative. These gardens are growing fresh and nutritious food with compost YOU helped create just by putting your food scraps and organic waste in your green waste bin at home. We love supporting our local community gardens to continue to grow fresh, nutritious food during this time. Find a garden or farm using this compost on Back to Earth’s Compost in Action Map.

The image included is the Urban Farm at the Melbourne Food Hub after they received their compost last year!

If you’re a community garden in Darebin and would like to be included in next years compost deliveries, then email environment.support@darebin.vic.gov.au to register your interest.

More information on food and green waste recycling bin and compost is available at www.darebin.vic.gov/foodwaste.
