Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

Olives to Oil is coming to Darebin!

The Olives to Oil Harvest Festival is coming to Darebin for the first time, in partnership with CERES 3000acres!

Come together over the weekend of 27-29 May to harvest olives from streets, parks and productive gardens. The olives will be pressed communally into delicious, local olive oil and distributed back to the people who help with the harvest.

Drop off your freshly picked olives on Sunday 29 May at one of two locations:

  • CERES Fair Food (Preston) register here
  • CERES Environment Park (Brunswick East) where there will be celebrations, live music, olive fruit identification, pruning advice and demonstrations of a mini olive press register here

Collect your oil from Reservoir Library two weeks later.

Residents of Darebin, Moreland and Yarra Councils can have up to 50kg of olives processed for FREE. Residents from other Council areas pay $10. There is a 50c/kilo surcharge for harvests over 50kg.

And if you have an olive tree but can’t pick it contact Merrin at olivestooil@ceres.org.au and she’ll do her best to find someone who would love to pick them.
