East Reservoir Community Garden – Autumn Workshops

The East Reservoir Community Garden is holding some exciting workshops in the coming months.

Workshop 1: Seasonal Planting with Robin Parker

Date: 4th March, 2013

Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm

Place: East Reservoir Community Garden, next door to the East Reservoir Senior Citizen’s Centre, 7A Strathmerton Street, East Reservoir

Description:

This workshop is being held in conjunction with the East Reservoir Senior Citizens Centre Trash ‘n Treasure day (8:00am – 1:00pm Senior Citizen’s Centre Hall). Why not make a morning of it and come down to check out the stalls and have a chat and cuppa with your friendly local community and fellow gardeners.

At the workshop, Robin will take participants through the best vegetables and herbs to grow each season, with a focus on Autumn and Winter plantings and the special conditions and manure / compost for each plant type to get the best yields.

Workshop 2: Composting and Worms

Description:

Learn the art and science of how to turn waste into rich organic topsoil using microbes and worms, which is the foundation of organic gardening. The workshop includes trouble shooting for all the common problems and hands-on demonstrations on compost making, and how to set up and maintain a worm farm.
