Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

Call out for events to be part of Urban Agriculture Month, April 2021

Would you like to host your own event at the first national @Urban_Agriculture_Month (UAM) in April 2021?

The UAF is hosting Urban Agriculture Month throughout April 2021, to raise the profile of edible gardens and urban farms around the country.

UAM will feature self-generated events from open gardens, workshops and guided tours, to communal feasts.

To take part, simply create an account and register your event ideas. Once approved, your event will be featured on the UAM map and shared far and wide.

Council will support 3 Darebin events with a $100 voucher for garden materials to hold your event as part of Urban Agriculture month. To apply please submit a brief summary about what you would propose to by the end of January 2021.

Here are some ideas:

  • Host a tour of your backyard or community garden, or host an open garden
  • Host a gardening workshop – all activities can be tied to fundraising opportunities for your garden or organisation.
  • Create a ‘virtual’ presentation that could be aired within the forum

We encourage you to get creative! Let’s celebrate Darebin’s diverse food growing culture and community.

Darebin City Council is a proud sponsor of the @urban_agriculture_forum (UAF), which is led by @sustainaustralia.
