Connecting gardens, groups and growers to create a more resilient food future in Darebin

DIVRS Community Gardens for Food Relief

DIVRS operates multiple gardens where we grow fresh and nutritious food for our food relief program. Our main gardens are behind our offices at 285 High Street Preston and at the Alphington Food Hub at 2 Wingrove Street Alphington. We also support the Newton Street Community Garden. Most of our gardens are closed to the public so that we can ensure our produce makes it into food relief parcels, but they’re community gardens at heart. At DIVRS we support a vision of local food systems which are secure, healthy, sustainable and fair. The produce from these gardens helps to increase food security for our community.

We have a team of volunteers who regularly tend to our gardens by propagating seedlings, turning compost, harvesting, and growing delicious veggies. We’re always looking for more hands in the garden so please get in touch if you’d like to volunteer with us. We also run the Darebin Fruit Squad: https://www.divrs.org.au/fruit-squad
